JIREH FARM Riding Academy

Riding Academy Policies

  • Lesson times are scheduled to be up to one hour.
  • Lessons may be cut short if the rider or horse/pony seem overly tired.
  • Students who know how to tack up their horse without assistance may come prior to their assigned lesson time to do this (with instructor approval). By tacking early, students will be able to devote more of their lesson time to riding.
  • Students arriving late will forfeit that portion of their lesson, at the discretion of the instructor.

Levels Program

  • If a change in lesson time or day is needed, please give your instructor as much notice as possible. Repeated missed or late (same-day) cancellation of lessons may result in charges assessed to the student for the missed lessons.
  • Group lessons are defined as a lesson in which two or more students are scheduled to ride on separate horses/ponies at the same time with the same instructor. Students in group programs will benefit the most if all of the group participants are at a similar riding level. If you want to ride with a certain group or individual who may be at a different level (as determined by the instructor), Jireh Farm may accommodate as long as all group participants agree.
  • Private lessons are lessons in which only one person is scheduled to ride under the supervision of one instructor during a lesson period. The arena may be used for other students with other instructors at this time. Members with riding privileges may also be using the arena at this time. At the instructor's discretion, the arena may be reserved for the private lesson only. If you are scheduled for a private lesson and desire private use of the arena, please inform your instructor. Your instructor may or may not be able to accommodate this request at any given time/day. Special consideration will be given to young or nervous horses/ponies.
  • Driving lessons are those lessons in which an instructor is training a student to drive a horse/pony hitched to a cart. The rate for driving lessons is the same whether the student is using a Jireh Farm horse/pony, cart and harness, or those belonging to the student, or any combination of these elements provided by Jireh Farm or the student.
  • Some driving lessons may involve ground-driving (working a horse/pony for the purpose of training the student or horse/pony without hitching the horse/pony to a carriage).
  • All driving lessons are private; however, the student - if a member - may elect to bring along a guest if the horse/pony to be driven is deemed safe by the instructor.
